Is Your Lean-to Conservatory Fitted with an Ultralite Roof?

Some conservatories are fitted with what is known as an Ultralite roof instead of regular polycarbonate panels. Usually, they are fitted where there is limited room for a well angled pitch on the roof. Most often they are found on lean-to type conservatories, and likely on low height properties such as bungalows.

Due to the design of the panels used, it is unsafe to attach internal insulation to Ultralite roofs. Whilst some companies may offer it, there is a very high chance that the reflected heat will cause the Ultralite panels to warp or even melt.

Ultralite roofs are also usually constructed using single large polycarbonate panel, without aluminium glazing bars between panels to attach timber to. This means attaching timber to the polycarbonate itself, which can be dangerous.

Because of the dangers of insulating them, we instead offer a full replacement of Ultralite roofs with a high-quality Firestone® rubber flat roof. Once this is done, we are then able to attach our usual insulation system to the inside of this roof.

This gives you a fully insulated room that is safe, effective and can improve the outside aesthetics of your conservatory. It’s also around ½ the cost of replacing the roof with a fully tiled option.

If you would like to learn more about this option, or if you’re unsure if you have an Ultralite roof, call our specialist team on 0800 862 0749 to discuss your options further.
